There are many basketball games that anyone can attend on any given night. The girls' schedules are just a click away from which you may select.

Whitney Bays, a 7 year player for the WV Thunder has verbally committed to Maryland University. Whitney is a 6’ 3 wing player who can also play in the post. She attends Huntington High School where she will be a senior in the 2009-2010 season

Brooke Keeton a 2 year player for the WV Thunder has verbally committed to Furman University. Brooke is a 6’3 post player. She attended Raceland High School her first three seasons of high school ball and will be attending Huntington St. Joe for the 2009-2010 season.

(quote from Herald Dispatch 11/16/09) KEETON SIGNS: Huntington St. Joe's Brooke Keeton, who joins the Irish after three years at Raceland, signed to play college basketball at Furman.

Keeton will be a top post presence, along with Sara Sang for the defending Class A champion Irish this season.

Kayla Cook a 7 year player for the WV Thunder has verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati. Kayla is a 5’ 10 #1 or #2 guard. She attends South Webster High School where she will be a senior in the 2009-2010 season.

Erin Bailes, an 8 year player for the WV Thunder has verbally committed to Ohio University. Erin is a 6’0 guard who can also play the #3 spot for her team. She attends Huntington High School where she will be a senior in the 2009-2010 season

WV Thunder 12u wins Adidas Ohio Showcase Tournament in Columbus OH to finish their 2009 AAU Season. Good luck to all the girls this year in their respective schools both in academics and athletics.

***Chuck Plybon a long time supporter and former coach in the WV Thunder program has died. In the world of AAU Basketball he was know by many nicknames - Big Country, Big Chuck, Mountain Man - but everyone knew he loved the sport. He leaves behind his wife, Carole and 16 year old Daughter, Kelsey.

16u WV Thunder finished with a First Place in the Summer Derby Classic. Wonderful way to end your "Thunder" Basketball Season for 2009.

12U Placed Fifth in the Nation at the AAU 12u Nationals held in Kingsport, TN.

Hannah Murray and Tracy Roberts have been invited to participate in the OGBR vs MGBR at Bowling Green University on July 31, 2009. Representing the OGBR in the 2013 Class.

Thunder Player Rachel Lambert coached her "little sis Maddie" to a First Place Finish in the Hannan Hoops Buddy Basketball League on April 9, 2009. Maddie is second from the right on the first row and 'big sis Ray' is directly behind her.

The WV Thunder sent five teams to the AAU Age Based Nationals and one team to the AAU Grade Based Tournament and had the following finishes:

8U National Champions

9u 9th

10u 5th

11u 5th

6th Grade Based Boo Williams NIT Champions

15u 5th

This is an amazing accomplishment for the Thunder Program. A big shout out goes to the players, parents, fans, and coaches in the program. A big Thunder FIST for two of the top young coaches in AAU basketball as Shannon Lewis & Scott Johnson had a hand in either helping in practice or coaching all the teams listed above. Great job guys!!!!!
